Hundreds were there to say no to nuclear and yes to conservation and renewable energy.

They marched and gathered in the heart of the largest global concentration of urnanium multi-nationals to hear Winona LaDuke and Peter Preeble - great leaders for a green world.

He is speaking at a national celebration of the 25th anniversary of Canada Health Act which is the cornerstone for universal public health care for all in Canada. This event was held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (home of the first province in Canada to introduce Medicare). It was sponsored by the Canadian Doctors for Medicare.

This is a special radio dispatch from Mozambique by Making the Link's Don Kossick. He interviews Judith Marshall of the Steelworkers Humanity Fund about the role of  the Brazilian based global mining giant Vale which operates the world's largest iron ore mine in Brazil, and in Canada took over the Inco holdings. The Steelworkers Humanity Fund is supporting a tri partite solidarity linkage between workers in Canada, Brazil and Mozambique. This linkage is based around occupational health and safety concerns, and  is an important forum for workers to share their knowledge and experience in dealing with the impact of large transnational such as Vale, who is embarking on developing the largest coal mine in sub Sahara in Mozambique. Forest of DeanIn this Making the Links Radio program, we are bringing you the first Canadian Broadcast of the poetry, song and storytelling of Dave Harvey, a bard of the Forest of Dean. Dave Harvey is a free miner, forestor and ardent protector of the commons. His words evoke great passion for the hard life of miners and the beauty of nature and the Forest of Dean community.

When one meets him you are overwhelmed by his openness to all and his commitment to passing on the oral history of a profound place. The Forest of Dean has been described psycho-geographically as an independent island state  between England and Wales and has  long been hotbed for creative artists, such as Dave Harvey.

This program is a tribute to  Dave Harvey for what he has given this earth in his poetry, songs, story telling and great sense of humanity.
